What does empathy look like in action? We had the joy of finding out during our latest workshop, "From Me to WE - Empathy," with the wonderful students of our partner school in Long Ping. Our mission was simple: to move beyond textbooks and create a shared, memorable experience that would bring the concept of empathy to life through games, stories, and creativity.
The energy in the room was incredible and served as a powerful reminder of why this work is so important.
A Morning of Laughter and Connection
Our day began with the sound of shared laughter during a simple ice-breaker. By sharing their likes and dislikes, the students quickly discovered how different—and how similar—they all are. This simple activity did more than just break the ice; it set a warm, welcoming tone for the main event: an imaginative storytelling session.
We whisked the students away on an adventure about an alien who crash-landed on Earth. By using "Yes/No" flags to guess the alien's feelings and working in teams to find the missing pieces of its translator, the students practised empathy in a tangible way. It was a beautiful lesson in teamwork and learning how to befriend someone new and different.
A Galaxy of Creativity
The classroom then transformed into a bustling hangar of creativity. Staying with our alien theme, students got crafty, designing and building their own unique paper spaceships for their new extraterrestrial friend. The room was alive with vibrant creations and focused young artists. Each spaceship that took shape was a proud reflection of the young creator behind it.
An Impact You Could See and Feel

The smiles on the students' faces said it all. The best part of the day was seeing them so deeply engaged—laughing, helping one another, and jumping into every activity with a contagious excitement.
Events like these are a powerful reminder that understanding and compassion are built through connection. Our volunteers left inspired, and so did we! By creating a space for joyful, interactive learning, we can plant the seeds of a more open-hearted community. A huge thanks to our school partners and everyone who joined in to prove that together, we really can make CommUnity a Reality.
